In celebration of Mother’s Day 2021, the Women in Tech organization at JW Player hosted a series of interviews with five working moms across leading media and technology companies. In these interviews, we discussed navigating motherhood and the workplace in 2021 – the ways in which it has been challenging, rewarding, and empowering. Each interviewee also talked about the advice that they’d give to new and future working mothers.

Lorna Bonnie-Akinola is the Senior Credit and Collections Analyst on the Finance team here at JW Player, and has amassed several years of experience within Billing, Credit and Collections. Lorna has worked within the Publishing and Tech space throughout her 20+ year career.

She was born in West Africa but grew up in London, and is mom to a very energetic 9 year old. Through a shared love of the outdoors, they are constantly outdoors biking, hiking, roller skating, and camping with Scouts. Together, they also enjoy quiet times at home either reading, watching movies, or playing video games with his classmates.  Lorna also enjoys meeting new people, traveling, cooking and learning about other cultures.

In her interview, Lorna talked about her experience as a new mom 10 years ago learning how to balance work and baby. She also chats about getting childcare help from her mom, shifting priorities and mindsets, and the importance of taking time for yourself.
